- Superintendent Supervision: Collaborating with and providing oversight for the Superintendent to ensure the district's strategic goals are met.
- Curriculum and Instruction: Evaluating and approving curricula that meet the diverse needs of our students and prepare them for future success.
- Facilities Management: Overseeing the maintenance and improvement of school facilities to provide a safe and conducive learning environment.
- Community Engagement: Encouraging active participation from parents, students, teachers, and community members to foster a collaborative educational community.

The School Board of Jackson County, Florida, is dedicated to providing a system of public education that supports academic excellence, personal growth, student safety, and the success of every learner.
As elected representatives of the citizens of Jackson County, School Board members serve as State officers with responsibility for the legislative management of local public schools. The Board’s work is guided by Florida law, the needs of our community, and the responsibility to exercise sound judgment in making policies, decisions, and procedures for the operation of the school system.
The Board is responsible for the organization, control, and general improvement of the District’s public schools. Its responsibilities include:
- Policy Development
Adopting policies that support effective school operations, high educational standards, student learning, and the continued improvement of the District. - Budget and Resource Oversight
Ensuring that public resources are used responsibly and effectively to support instruction, student services, safe facilities, and District priorities. - Superintendent Collaboration and Oversight
Working with the Superintendent, who serves as the executive officer of the District, to ensure that Board policies are implemented and that the school system continues to improve. - Curriculum, Instruction, and Student Achievement
Supporting educational programs, curriculum, facilities, and motivation so students are encouraged to learn and achieve their fullest potential. - Facilities and Operations
Providing oversight for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of schools, facilities, and District programs. - Community Engagement
Maintaining open communication with citizens, keeping the public informed about the progress and challenges of the District, and encouraging parents, students, staff, and community members to share their thoughts and concerns.
The Board recognizes its dual responsibility to implement the requirements of Florida law while also listening to and representing the citizens of Jackson County. Through open communication, thoughtful policymaking, and responsible decision-making, the Board works to serve as a truly representative body for the community in matters related to District programs and operations.
