Student Health Guide

Screening Students

  • Isolate and alert the Office if a student displays any symptoms. For example:
    • Consistent coughing and/or sneezing
    • Flushed cheeks
    • Sore throat
    • Rapid or difficult breathing without recent physical activity

Cover Coughs and Sneezes

  • Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow or a tissue.
  • Throw away used tissues immediately.
  • Immediately wash hands.
  • Wearing a cloth face cover during group activities and transitions is strongly recommended. It may be taken off during deskwork. It should:
    • Fit snuggly
    • Allow breathing without restrictions
    • Be laundered and dried daily

Clean Hands

  • At a minimum, hands should be washed:
    • When entering the classroom
    • Mid-morning
    • After lunch
    • Before going home
    • Immediately after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose, or going to the bathroom
  • Handwashing steps:
    • Wet hands with running water and apply soap.
    • Lather your hands by rubbing them together. Lather the back of your hands, between your fingers and under your nails.
    • Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
    • Dry your hands with a clean towel or air dry.

Social Distancing

  • Try to stay two armlengths apart at all times, side to side and front to back.

Rooms

  • Space desks as far apart as feasible. Don’t forget safe corners/places.
  • Do not have students facing each other in desks or tables.
  • Establish routines that discourage students from gathering in groups.
  • Avoid sharing textbooks, supplies and toys.

Halls

  • Elementary Schools: Single file lines that are social distanced.
  • Middle and High Schools: Double file lines that are social distanced.
  • Traffic flow should keep right.
  • Keep pace.
  • Wearing cloth face coverings are strongly recommended.

Cafeteria

  • Serving lines should be single file and social distanced.
  • Keep an empty seat in between students.
  • Do not have students facing each other.
  • Practice social distancing when disposing of trash.
  • Exit in a single file line, keeping social distance.

Recess

  • Encourage students to social distance.

Employee Health Guide

Stay Home

  • When experiencing the following symptoms:
    • Cough
    • Chills
    • Fever of 100.4 or higher
    • Sore Throat
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Cover Coughs and Sneezes

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow.
  • Wearing a cloth face covering is strongly recommended to prevent the spread of respiratory droplets.
  • Face coverings should:
    • Fit snugly against the side of your face with no gaps
    • Be secured with ties or ear loops
    • Allow breathing without restriction
    • Be laundered and dried daily

Social Distancing

  • Stay at least 6 feet away, about 2 armlengths.
  • Do not gather in groups of more than 10.

Clean Hands

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use 60% or greater alcohol-based sanitizer on all surfaces of your hands and rub together until dry.
  • Clean hands immediately after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose or going to the bathroom.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

Clean and Disinfect

  • Wear disposable gloves.
  • Clean dirty surfaces with soap and water prior to disinfection.
  • Use disinfectant wipes or an EPA-registered disinfectant spray.
  • Store cleaning and disinfecting products out of reach of children.
  • Clean “High-touch” surfaces at least daily. Use checklist:
    • Tables
    • Chairs
    • Doorknobs
    • Phones
    • Desks
    • Keyboards
    • Sinks
    • Toilets
    • Countertops
    • Faucets
    • Light switches

Transportation Health Guide

Students with Symptoms

  • Isolate students in front seat alone with mask when displaying symptoms:
    • Constant coughing and/or sneezing
    • Flushed cheeks
    • Sore Throat
    • Rapid or difficult breathing without recent physical activity
    • Radio ahead for dispatch to notify the school of sick student.

Social Distancing

  • Students will be assigned seats to limit contact and help with tracing if necessary.
  • Load back to front. First on in the back AM, last off in the back PM.
  • If possible sit two in each seat. Family members should sit three to a seat if needed.

  • Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow or tissue.
  • Throw away used tissues immediately.
  • Immediately sanitize your hands.
  • Wearing a cloth face covering while on the bus is strongly recommended. It should:
    • Fit snuggly
    • Allow breathing without restrictions
    • Be laundered and dried daily

  • Hand sanitizer will be available on all buses.
  • Students should sanitize when entering and exiting bus.
